Mad Girl's Love Song
“Spangled Blengins”—Henry Darger
I watched the documentary “In the Realms of the Unreal” recently, and I recommend it highly. Darger grew up in a home for “feeble-minded boys” and spent his life as a reclusive janitor. It was only after his death that a 15,000 page novel, thousands of other pages of writings, and hundreds of works of art were discovered in his apartment. Today he is hailed as one of the greatest self-taught artists, and I find his work fascinating. Watch the documentary if you’re curious!
